Lent
Wednesday, February 17, 2010
Lent began on Ash Wednesday, 17 February this year. Jesus encourages us to pray, to fast and to give to the poor. Think about how you are going, realistically, to give more time to God in prayer this Lent. Think also about what you are going to fast from or give up.
The following parish events might be of use so that we can keep a Holy Lent;
Sunday: Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament from 5.00 p.m. until 5.45 p.m.
Wednesdays of Lent: Beginning on Wednesday 24th February there will be a series of reflections on the Creed. Using a DVD resource the sessions have inputs from several prominent men and women of faith and will also include time for discussion and prayerful reflection. Led for the most part by Fr. Peter the sessions will begin after Mass on Wednesday and last for no more than one hour.
Fridays of Lent: Each Friday Mass will be celebrated at 8.00 a.m.
Stations of the Cross will be celebrated at 7.00 p.m. on Fridays and will be followed by Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament until 8.00 p.m.
