Cleator Pilgrimage

This year’s Annual Pilgrimage to the Diocesan Shrine of Our Lady of Lourdes at Cleator takes place on Sunday 7th September. The theme is “Go and drink at the spring and wash yourself there”. The Mass and Blessing of the Sick will start at 3.00 p.m. and Bishop Michael Campbell will be the principal celebrant. Teas can be booked at the Grove Court Hotel by ringing 01946811062. Bookings must be made before 20th August.

Carmelite Day

At St. Bede's, Carlisle, from 10.30am-5pm.The day is open to everybody (not just Carmelites) who would like to come and take part in this day of prayer and reflection in the Carmelite tradition The former prior general of the Order of Carmelites, Fr. Joseph Chalmers, O.Carm., will be speaking and celebrating Mass, along with Fr, Willie Moran, OCD, prior of the Discalced Carmelite Community in Glasgow. Also speaking at the afternoon discussion panel will be Sr. Anne Parker, O.Carm., from York, and John Berry of the Third Order of Carmelites.

Diocesan Education Mass

This year’s Diocesan Education Mass takes place in The Cathedral on 26th September at 7.30 p.m. This Mass is in acknowledgement of and gratitude for the contribution made by all those in the Diocese involved in the work of education and formation and to ask for a blessing on the coming year. The invitation to the Mass is extended to all those who are involved in education in the faith, including Deacons, catechists, those involved in Children’s Liturgy, and of course to all Teachers, both inside and outside of the Catholic sector.

Celebrating Youth Ministry

There is a day for all those involved in Youth Ministry in whatever capacity on Saturday 27th September at Brettargh Holt from 10.30 a.m. – 3.00p.m. This will be an opportunity to reflect upon youth ministry, to share ideas, learn new skills and discover a way forward. The Sacrament of Confirmation

Bishop Michael Campbell will be visiting the parish to confer the Sacrament of Confirmation on 19 of our young people. The programme we are using this year is a new one produced by Catholic Faith Exploration (CAFÉ) and is lively and challenging for the young people involved. Other activities include a Bowling Trip to AMF Carlisle followed by a meal and there will be a weekend retreat in September, which will be led by Inner Sanctum. Please keep these young people in your prayers.
